User:Hubdb39 - You have been edit warring to add Glenna Sue Kidd to the "notable people" list. Please note that inclusion is for individuals "who were born, or lived for a significant amount of time, in the city", per WP:USCITIES#Notable people. Attending school there does not qualify for inclusion. Please see WP:USCITIES for details.
Both of the sources you cite -- [1], [2] -- state she was born in nearby Choctaw, Arkansas, where she is listed as a notable person.
Please revert your edit. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:20, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Glenna Sue Kidd went to Clinton schools beginning in head start, all the way to graduation at Clinton High School. It's shocking that someone is throwing a fit about this. Shocking.
- Her inclusion into the general story of women's professional baseball, including being given a cameo role in the movie A League of Their Own, and this being covered by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper, stands tall. Again, it's shocking that someone has enough hate in their heart to declare war on such a great story, and one that is documented time and time again. Hubdb39 (talk) 23:44, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Hubdb39: Please be civil. Do you have a source supporting that she ever lived in Clinton? If not, please revert your edit. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:49, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- You're the one who needs to be civil. Stop vandalizing the Clinton, Arkansas page. Hubdb39 (talk) 00:00, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- Wikipedia has guidelines such as having sources for all content. A source is needed to add Glenna Sue Kidd to the Clinton, Arkansas article demonstrating that she lived for a significant amount of time in the city. No one is disputing her inclusion into the general story of women's professional baseball. Just a simple request to follow Wikipedia guidelines. Thanks, 〜 Adflatuss • talk 00:32, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Adflatuss: Pointing out the guideline has not been effective. User:Hubdb39, could you explain why your edit should be an exception to the consensus of editors who wrote WP:USCITIES? --Magnolia677 (talk) 17:19, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Because the story has been documented in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper, as shown here several times. Also in the Encyclopedia of Arkansas, as shown here several times. And again, when it was written as her being a *Clinton High School graduate*, which she was in 1950, this Magnolia 677 person throws a fit about that as well.
- It's bizarre that someone would throw multiple fits about who lived 1 mile from this or that town in rural America. Someone has a really huge problem. But...Sue lived IN CLINTON ARKANSAS for many years after she moved back to Arkansas from Indiana. Hubdb39 (talk) 18:26, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- ...it's not an exception... Hubdb39 (talk) 18:34, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- As I wrote below, being a Clinton High graduate is not the same thing as being from Clinton, because the attendance boundary of Clinton High (in 2025) extends across multiple rural areas and across county lines. WhisperToMe (talk) 16:11, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- "attendance boundary of Clinton High (in 2025) extends across multiple rural areas and across county lines."
- Sue Kidd graduated from Clinton High School in 1950. Hubdb39 (talk) 18:30, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

- There's not going to be a newspaper clip in any earthly circumstance showing that Jane Doe lived 1.2 miles from "Smithville" to her grocery store in "Jonestown", and there's also not going to be any newspaper clipping showing that anyone lived at any particular address anywhere in America.
- This entire war started by Magnolia Whoever is embarrassing for Magnolia. WOW Hubdb39 (talk) 18:40, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this is the right tone to use in this discussion. We're trying to do some research and find a proper solution. This isn't a war. (see WP:BATTLEGROUND) WhisperToMe (talk) 15:07, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's been a war by Magnolia. A complete war. I've rightly posted a person from women's professional baseball, an anti-slavery group before and during the civil war, and a big band leader, all from Clinton. And the war from this Magnolia has been thrown at me for I think almost two weeks now. Magnolia even deleted the chairman of the National Transportation Board. Most of these entries have been present on Wiki for years, and Magnolia has deleted them out of spite. Zero respect for history, and all motivated by spite. Hubdb39 (talk) 19:07, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

One thing about US school districts is that they often cover more than the city limits, and often include multiple communities. The Clinton school district (this is census code UNI 04410), in 2025, not only includes Clinton but several other areas (including almost all of Dennard), and it extends into another county. I think alumni of Clinton High need to be listed in Clinton High School (Arkansas), but that does not mean every single alumnus is from Clinton as their residence may be a significant distance away. The question is whether the person had a residence in Clinton or even in an area with a "Clinton, AR" post office address (which would be called "Clinton, Arkansas" in newspapers). In other words, going to school in Clinton is not the same thing as actually living there, and that is why this extra reference is being requested. WhisperToMe (talk) 14:52, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm trying to find a published source saying she lived in Clinton (a published source is needed to verify she lived in Clinton for years after moving back from somewhere). So far all I see is this article saying that she lived in Choctaw as a teenager.
- Matter, Kathy (1992-07-28). "She's in her own league". Journal and Courier. pp. B1, B6 – via Newspapers.com. - On page B1: "She was 15 in Choctaw, Ark.,[...]"
- We need a newspaper article or book article or journal article saying that she was "in Choctaw" or otherwise saying her house was there.
- WhisperToMe (talk) 15:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- "Sue Kidd (1933–2017)". Encyclopedia of Arkansas. Central Arkansas Library System. Retrieved 2025-01-05. - This says she went back to Choctaw, not to Clinton. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:19, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- And for clarity, Magnolia677 asked for my viewpoints about this dispute on my talk page, so I came here and did research on the issue. I found information on James E. Burnett (who should have his own article, IMO) and I think he should be listed, but I have failed to find information saying that Kidd had a residence in Clinton. WhisperToMe (talk) 16:34, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Hubdb39: There are now three editors who say Glenna Sue Kidd is not from Clinton. Could you revert your edit? Magnolia677 (talk) 16:03, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Zero percent of Pope County residents attend school in Clinton, Arkansas.
- Alread and Scotland had their own schools during Sue Kidd's life.
- Choctaw and Dennard residents always attended Clinton Schools, then and now, with some exceptions for Dennard residents who preferred to have children attend school in Leslie, Arkansas (Searcy County). Hubdb39 (talk) 18:24, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Choctaw is literally five feet from the Clinton city limit. 100% of Choctaw kids have always gone to school in Clinton, because it's the same place. Kids walked to school in Clinton, from Choctaw. Mark Twain and William Faulkner are turning over in their graves right now, reading this. Hubdb39 (talk) 18:52, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Hubdb39: A consensus of editors at WP:USCITIES#Notable people have agreed that inclusion in a city's "notable people" list is for individuals "who were born, or lived for a significant amount of time, in the city". Thus, individuals who worked in a city, died in a city, were imprisoned in the city, or attended school in the city...do not qualify for inclusion. Unless you have a source supporting that this person lived here for a while, her name will be removed from the notable people list. Will you support this, or continue to add her name back to the list? Please reply. Magnolia677 (talk) 19:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- So cringe. You vandalize pages, then you lecture people who stand up against you. Hubdb39 (talk) 19:13, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

Content dispute
[edit]User:Hubdb39 continues to edit war over the following:
Clinton and Van Buren County residents were politically active before and during the American Civil War, many against the war and against slavery, as chronicled in the Encyclopedia of Arkansas:
"Twenty-seven suspects from Van Buren County had previously arrived in the capital on November 28, 1861, prompting Governor Henry Massie Rector to write to the Confederate president, Jefferson Davis, for advice on how to proceed. Receiving no response, he wrote to Judah Philip Benjamin, secretary of war for the Confederacy, who urged the governor to use his best judgment. On December 20, 1861, the True Democrat paper reported that the governor confronted the now 117 prisoners and offered them a choice of trial or enlisting in the Confederate army. Only fifteen chose to stand trial."[1]
Neither the quote, nor the source cited, mentions Clinton. This should be removed until a specific reference to Clinton in found. The input of others would be appreciated. Magnolia677 (talk) 16:27, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
